[ARCHIVED] Free Fridays at the splash field offered through Farmer's Market

The Taylor Farmer's Market, presented by Beaumont, will be rolling out a one new program and celebrating the second year of another this Friday.

The new program is "Free Fridays" program for the Lamarand Splash Field. In addition, the market will host its second annual classic car show.

"Free Fridays" are a new program that involves both the Farmer's Market and the neighboring splash pad. Only Taylor residents are eligible. To participate in the "Free Fridays" program, adults with their children must attend the market during regular hours (11 a.m. to 6 p.m.). While attending the market, they have to "find" participating vendors, who will be giving away free coupons to the splash field facility.

Each Friday throughout the market and splash pad season, "Free Fridays" coupons will be available to the first 50 residents who request them.

Passes are usually $3 for a two-hour block at the splash field. The free passes can be used anytime during the 2016 splash pad season. The facility, new this year and located right next to the Sheridan Center Open Air Pavilion in Heritage Park, is the perfect place to take your children during the summer. It is designed like a small baseball field, with water coming out of bases, balls, bats and even the scoreboard in the middle. It also has a brand new playscape. It is ideally suited for the 12-year-old and under group.

In addition to the "Free Fridays" program, the market will host its second annual car show from 1-4 p.m. The show, similar to last year's, will be showcased in front of Sheridan Center Open Air Pavilion.

Anyone who is interested in participating in the show must register by Thursday, July 28. The first 30 registrations will be accepted. To register, contact Kimber Dorton at (734) 374-1450 or email her at kdorton@ci.taylor.mi.us. The entry fee is only $10 per car.

Participating cars must arrive by 12:30 p.m. Cars will be on display between 1 and 4 p.m.

Gift cards will be awarded to the top three classics, as selected by the Farmer's Market Committee.
